What do I mean by respect?  If I’m in a relationship with you, I respect your choices; I will not try to control your choices.  Because I love you, I allow you to be what you are.  I don’t have to agree with you, but I respect every belief you have, every choice you make, because I love you the way you are.  I also respect  my own life, and I will not allow you to control my life.  If you don’t respect me, I will still love you, but that may be the end.  The only way to save our relationship is to recover the respect, to communicate better, and to create new agreements with a new set of boundaries.  In this way, the relationship can be healed.

“These women are in their 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s who never had children or whose children are grown,” Ross said. “They’re all in treatment, in recovery, working to get their lives straightened out.”
Some are homeless, some are diabetic and some have heart conditions, she said.
“We’re raising money to help them pay for medication.”
NCADD has a job-training program, but in the meantime, the clients have other serious needs, she said.
Casey’s daily-meditation book “Each Day a New Beginning” has sold more than 3 million copies.
“My books have been popular with people both in various 12-step programs and outside those programs,” Casey said last year before an appearance in Mesa.
By the same token, her discussions are broad enough to appeal to anyone interested in improving their lives, she said.
“It’s really about changing,” she said. “It’s about the human condition and making our lives better.”
Co-sponsors of the event, which is open to both men and women, are the Center for Applied Behavioral Health Policy at ASU and a bookstore, Recovery Rocks Mesa.
